The rodeo is named for the late William “Bill” Lipscomb of Como. Lipscomb, who co-owned Lipscomb Bros. Livestock Market, entered calf-roping competitions and was a longtime supporter of rodeo.

Lipscomb passed away August 23, 2002, in an automobile accident.

His son Mark Lipscomb coordinates the rodeo each year.

Contests for children begin 30 minutes before rodeo time.

Tickets can be obtained at the Civic Center box office or online at batesvilleciviccenter-ms.com.
