It was nt the ending the South Panola Lady Tiger’s softball team had envisioned but their season came to an end on Wednesday as they fell to the Lady Vikings of Warren Central.

In game one, the Lady Vikes won 6-5. In the first innings the third baseman Sydney Morgan singled but was left stranded. In the bottom of the frame the, Lady Vikings got six hits and scored five runs.

Right centerfielder Sarah Kate Smith hit a three-run homer.

The Lady Tigers finally score in top of the sixth. Sydney Morgan drew a walk to get the inning started. Chloe Morgan slammed a RBI triple, driving her sister home. With two outs, Lady Tiger catcher Rebekah Garner hit singled to drive Chloe Morgan home.

The Lady Vikes had a 6-2 lead going into the bottom of the seventh. With one out, pitcher Lea Todd Ware singled. Shortstop Haley Reid drew a walk advancing Ware to second. Sydney Morgan followed with a walk loading the bags. Chloe Morgan drew a walk sending Ware home. Left fielder Makenzie Crutcher slammed a two RBI double sending Reid and Sydney Morgan home but Chloe Morgan was called out at third when she left the base. Garner followed with a single and Amber Helmes hit a single but Crutcher was called out at home plate.

The Lady Tigers had 10 hits, seven walks and left 12 on base. Hitting a double was Crutcher, Garner and Ware. Getting two singles was Ware.  Reid, Chloe Morgan, Garner, Helmes and Caitlin Seay.

The Lady Vikes had 10 hits, one walk and left five on base.

In game two Warren Central shut out South Panola 3-0 to advance to the second round of the playoffs. South Panola had three hits and left all three on base. Hitting a single was Reid, Helmes and Ware.

Warren Central had 11 hits and left 10 on base.

South Panola ended their season with an overall record of 14-9.

Head Coach Kim Wilson said, “We looked better than they did. I don’t think our uniforms came from K-Mart. We don’t do circus acts with the ball when we’re going out on the field with it as far as passing it from person to person. We’ve got class. You know how to play. With all that being said we came here, got off the bus and we weren’t ready. That team, no matter how they looked, no matter what kind of antics they played, no matter how many times they called flying objects above them chickens, they beat us or did we beat ourselves. They got the wins but y’all know in your hearts what happened. They didn’t beat us. We beat ourselves.”

 Warren Central will play the winner of New Hope and Madison Central.
