McMinn is beginning his 18th year of coaching, his 10th at Magnolia Heights. He has received this award in 2009, 2012 and 2014.

In 2013, MaxPreps ranked his team No. 8 in the nation. Hard work and long hours have paid off for McMinn and the boys on his team.

“This is a great honor, but it is more of an accomplishment for the team than what I did. If it weren’t for the boys and coach Hughes, I would not have received this award. This honor is for what our team has accomplished, and I could not be more proud of our kids at MHS,” said McMinn.

Dukes is entering his 38th year of coaching, which has ranged from junior high sports to the SEC. He has received this honor previously as both a high school coach and junior college coach.

Dukes’ prior experience also includes being a member of the Ole Miss coaching staff, which carried the team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in 2001.

“I love being a part of the Magnolia Heights family, as both a coach and teacher. Last year’s team was a special group of guys that I enjoyed being with both on and off the court. It was an honor for me to be their coach,” said Dukes.

Both coaches are busy preparing for the upcoming seasons and looking forward to another successful year.
