SP football up for top program in the program;
FANS CAN VOTE
USA Today High School Sports is giving fans the opportunity to decide who has the best high school boys sports program in the country.
The contest will start with 255 schools, with the overall strength of all individual boys programs as the criteria for inclusion. Each state will have five representatives.
There will be three rounds of voting. The first round is the State round and is ongoin and ends on August 26 at 1 p.m. CST. At the end of the first round, the 51 schools with the most votes in each state will advance to the Regional voting.
The second round is the Regional round starting on August 27 at 11 p.m. CST and ends on September 4 at 1 p.m. CST. There will be ten total schools that will advance to the final round.
The final round is National and the voting starts on September 5 at 11 CST and ends on September 12 at 1 CST. The school with the highest number of votes will be the winner.
The first place winner will receive $1,000 and a banner for their athletic department. The second place winner will receive $500 and a banner. Third place will receive $250 and a banner. All 10 finalists will receive a banner for being a finalist.
The five teams in Mississippi are South Panola, Meridian, Tupelo, Ocean Springs and Oak Grove. Votes may be cast at www.contest.usatodayhss.com as many times as participants like each day.
