Auto Middleton

COURTLAND––Auto Middleton, 83, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at her residence.

Services will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor Jacob Hentz will officiate. Burial will be in Springhill Asa M.B. Church Cemetery in Courtland. Visitation will be held Tuesday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.

Middleton, born Feb. 3, 1931, to Willie G. Middleton and Jettie Adair Middleton, was a retired construction worker and independent contractor. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army.

Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Middleton of Courtland; four sons, Randy Middleton, Billy Middleton, Michael Middleton, all of Courtland and Keith Middleton of Sardis; seven daughters, Patsy Middleton of Courtland, Harriet Middleton of Oxford, Barbara Fondren of Southaven, Alice Clark and Kathy Crump, both of Courtland, Regina Middleton and Mary Middleton, both of Batesville; 39 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Jessie Ray Luther

CRENSHAW––Monroe Short III, 71, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at his residence. 

Services were held Sunday at  First United Methodist Church in Sardis. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Ray Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Short, born to the late Robert Sorrells Short and Rivers Perkins Short, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sardis and a member of the American Paint Horse Association and Beef Master Breeders Association.

Survivors include: his wife, Michelle Alexander Short of Crenshaw; one son, Rob Short of Witchita; three step-daughters, Emily Clark of Hernando and Amanda Kidder of Crenshaw and Elizabeth Futch of Farmerville, La.; one sister, Cindy Beard of Sardis; one brother, Bob Short of Sarah and nine grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be sent to The Bill Lipscomb Memorial Scholarship, NWCC, c/o Foundation Office, 4975 Hwy 51 N.; Senatobia, Miss. 38668.  Ray-Nowell Funeral Home – Sardis, MS has charge of arrangements.  

Monroe Short III

SALTILLO––Jesse Ray Luther, 68, died Tuesday,  August 5, 2014, at Tupelo Medical Center. He was married to Betty Lundgren Luther, formerly of Sardis.

Graveside services were held Thursday at Hillcrest Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors along with his wife include: two brothers, Ronnie Luther of Holly Springs and Ricky Luther of Horn Lake.
