Kroger plans to add fuel center

By John Howell

Kroger plans to add a fuel center to its supermarket at 110 Keating Road.

Greg Carrico of the Pickering Firm, Inc. Of Memphis is scheduled to present site and building design standards for review at Monday’s meeting of the Batesville Planning Commission.

Carrico will also seek a variance to allow a larger sign for the fuel center than the city code currently allows.

The site’s present C-2 zoning allows the construction of the fuel center, Batesville Code Administrator Pam Comer said.

A representative of McDonald’s is also on the planning commission agenda. Gary Sarcharski of Stantec is scheduled to present site and building design standards for the restaurant’s new building plans.

Batesville aldermen in May approved McDonald’s request to allow the present McDonald’s lot and the adjacent lot where a vacant restaurant building now stands at the Highway 6/51 intersection to be combined. The combined lot will provide sufficient space for a larger McDonald’s to be built following the demolition of its present restaurant building and the vacant building.

Lisa Collier Lewis will appear before commissioners to present a proposal for paint improvements at 350 Highway51 North, according to the meeting agenda.

Other agenda items for Monday’s meeting include:

• Betty Jane Mathews seeking a rear property setback variance for 116 Court Street;

• Paul Williams of Custom Signs seeking a variance request for RedMed Urgent Clinic;

• Mike Caine who will present site and building design standard for an addition at New Hope Church of God, 210 West Street.

Commissioners will meet at 5 p.m. in the Batesville City Hall.
