Ida Mae Bishop

SARDIS–Ida Mae Bishop, 81, died Friday, July 4, 2014, at her residence.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Rocky Mountain Primitive Baptist Church in Sardis. James E. Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Bishop, born Sept. 13, 1932, to the late Lonnie Cole Sr. and Deola Draper of Batesville, was a cook for North Panola School District and a member of Rocky Mountain Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Shuford Bishop and Murray Bishop of Memphis; two daughters, Peggy Salter of Olive Branch and Garnett McClora of Sardis; one brother, Lonnie Cole Jr. of Batesville; one sister, Mary Cole Campbell of Batesville; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.


Louise D. Collins

ENID–Louise D. Collins, 88, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Tallahatchie General Hospital Extended Home in Charleston.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Dan Beardain will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Collins, born Oct. 29, 1925, in Enid, to the late Lige M. and Dovie Hollinsworth Deaton, was a member of Enid Lake Church of Christ and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell V. Collins; one daughter, Patricia Ann Sandifer; one son, Randy Lee Collins and one granddaughter, Leigh Anne Horton.

Survivors include: one daughter, Brenda Dixon of Pope; one brother, John E. Deaton of Enid; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Those who wish to send memorials may forward those to The Jackson Grove Church of Christ in Enid or Sardis Lake Christian Camp, 176 4-H Club Rd., Batesville.

Dorothy Jean Doyle

COMO–Dorothy Jean Doyle, 38, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, at her residence. 

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ruffin Grove M.B. Church in Como. Visitation will be held Friday 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Braham Chapel C.M.E. Church in Sardis. 

Doyle was a factory worker.

Survivors include: one daughter, Karnesha Doyle of Como; three sisters, Renida Young, Marchelle Burton and Shanta Burton, all of Como and five brothers, Terry Doyle of South Beloit, Ill., Jimmie Young, Ray Young, Carlos Burton and Mario Burton, all of Como. 

Sherveda Reeves

BATESVILLE–Sherveda Reeves, 36, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014.

Services were Thursday at Macedonia M.B. Church. Rev. Zannie Leland Jr. officiated. Burial was inMacedonia Cemetery. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home had charge.

Reeves, born Dec. 8, 1978, to Jerry Watson and Bonnie Reeves of Batesville, was a member of West Batesville Pentecostal Church.

Survivors along with her parents include: three sons, Jodeci Reeves, Titus Jones and Marcel Jones, all of Batesville; three sisters, Alma Nelson of Horn Lake, Linsy Wolf of Sardis and Jermia Jones of Batesville; three brothers, Tracy Benson of Pope, Anthony King of Little Rock and Jeremy Cosby of Jackson.



Robbie Jean Smith

SENATOBIA–Robbie Jean Smith, 87, died Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Senatobia Convalescent Center and Rehab.

Services were held Wednesday at Blackjack Presbyterian Church. Rev. Michelle Howie officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Smith, born Oct. 28, 1927, to the late Emmet Boyd Arnold and Zelma Turbeville Arnold in Memphis, was a member of Blackjack Presbyterian Church where she played the piano for 60 years.

She and her late husband, Paul D. Smith, were owners of Tri-Lakes Sports Supply, where she worked as bookkeeper. 

Survivors include: two daughters, Paula Smith Findley of Kingston Springs, Tenn. and Betty Smith Price of Sardis; three sons, Joe Smith of Brandon, Johnny Smith and Davey Smith, both of Batesville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-great-grandchildren.
