Counterfeit bill passed at convenience store

By Rupert Howell
The Exxon C-Store at the intersection of Highway 6 and Lakewood Drive in Batesville was the site of an apparent passing of a counterfeit $10 bill last Saturday.

Apparently it was not a very “good” one according to BPD officer Justin Maples’ report that stated that the bill, “did not feel right and did not appear to be as big as a real bill,” according to the clerk.
Just earlier Maples had received a call that the subject had tried to pass the fake money and was still in the store.

The store’s clerk also stated it did not appear as big as a real bill and used the currency marker that showed the bill fake. The subject, a black male with tattoo on his left arm according to the report, said that  he forgot and washed the money which caused it to shrink.

The clerk told the subject that she needed to call the office and he reportedly  volunteered to hang around until police arrived but decided to leave instead.

The report indicates the suspect had a  tattoo on his left upper arm and was driving a maroon car.
