Jackie Elaine Barnett
COMO–Jackie Elaine Barnett, 49, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at her residence.
Services will be held Saturday at noon at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Beulah M.B. Church Cemetery.

Barnett was a member of Beulah M.B. Church in Como.

Survivors include; three daughers, Raven E. Barnett and Shakeyvia S. Barnett, both of Como and Keanna S. Barnett of Sardis; five sisters, Emma J. Smith of Coldwater, Sindey J. Hill of Memphis, Lola A. Coleman of Sardis, Betty J. Barnett and Jessie M. Barnett, both of Como and Johnnie Young of Senatobia; three brothers, Charles E. Barnett of Demoine, Iowa, Grady Barnett of Seattle and Robert E. Barnett of Como and two grandchildren.

David Blackburn
POPE–David Blackburn, 77, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial will be in Pope Chapel Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home has charge.

Blackburn, born Feb. 13, in Pope, to the late Joseph Blackburn and Claudia Blackburn, was a member of Pope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. He was retired from Dunlap and Kyle.

Survivors include: his wife, Lillie Mae Blackburn; three sons, David Lee Blackburn Jr., Bobby Joe Blackburn, Randall Pope, all of Batesville; two brothers, Lee Andrew Blackburn of ope and JJ Blackburn of Batesville; two sisters, Rosie Blackburn and Josephine Caldwell, both of Chicago; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild .

Marian Cleona Bobo
BATESVILLE–Marian Cleona Bobo, 74, died Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Friday at noon at Antioch M.B. Church in Batesville. Pastor Mark Hyde will officiate. Burial will be in Antioch M.B. Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.

Bobo, born Dec. 9, 1939, in Indianapolis, Ind. to the late Charles Duke Hardister and Helena Riley Hardister, was retired from Western Electric Company and AT&T. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was founding president of the Zodiac Christian Women Organization, treasurer of Faith Temple Seventh Day Adventist, vice president of the Community Service Federation, member of the Sabbath School Department of Faith Temple. She was a church hospitality leader, member of the deaconess board and a member of the Capitol City Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Survivors include: her husband, William Bobo of Batesville; two sons, Kevin Bobo of Memphis and Gregory Bobo of Batesville; six daughters, Rita Ann Smith of Indianapolis, Ronda Williams, Janice Williams and Angela Williams, all of Batesville, Linda Diggs of Denver, Colo. and Destiny Ramson of Memphis; one sister, Eleanora Jefferson of Indianapolis; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Jack Brooks
Jack Brooks, 95, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Services were held Monday at Calvary Baptist Church. Dr. Paul Middleton officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis.Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Brooks, born July 31, 1918, to the late James Isaac and Zora Ellen Morehead Brooks entered the United States Army in 1941 and was honorably discharged with a rank of Master Sergeant in November of 1944. While in the military, he worked as a Court Reporter and served in the Army Airborne Division. Post World War II, He was a court reporter in Memphis and the owner of the former Briargate/Southaven Country Club. Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie Sue McElyea Brooks of Batesville; two daughters, Jacquelyn Dixie Brooks Anderson of London, England and Cynthia Brooks Middleton of Batesville; one son, Jack Brooks, Jr., of Olive Branch; one step-daughter, Patricia Ann Cupp of Sardis; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family requests that Memorial donations be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1505, Batesville, MS 38606.

Ida Marlene Daugherty
COURTLAND–Ida Marlene Daugherty, 82, died Friday, January 10, 2014, at her residence..
Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 13, 2014 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery near Pope, MS. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Raymond Aven will be officiating the services.

Daugherty, born March 1, 1931 in Rome, to the late Grover and Pearl White Pearson, was a ceritfied nurses assistant and member of the New Hope Church of God in Batesville.
She was preceded in death by:  her husband, Thomas Selmer Daughery; four children, Mary Jane Forgarty, Tony Daugherty, Tommy Daugherty, Bobby Daugherty, and two grandchildren, Jeffery Daugherty and Jessica Pruett.

Survivors include: three daughters, Carolyn Daugherty Peters of Memphis, Kathleen Daugherty Bonner of Courtland, Joan Daugherty Zimmer of Sardis; three sons, James Daugherty of Courtland, Jimmy Daugherty of Memphis, Gary Daugherty of Batesville; sister, Janie Orr of Birmingham; 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Lillie Rebecca Herrin
MESQUITE, Texas­–Lillie Rebecca Herrin, 87, formerly of Batesville, diedFriday, January 10, 2014, in Texas.

Services were held Monday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Michael Bates and Robert Rawson officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Mrs. Herrin, born July 16, 1926, in Oxford, to the late Julian Alvis Lewis andCora Ester Perkins Lewis, was a retired restaurant owner and a member of the Batesville Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Herrin.

Survivors include: one daughter, Doris Jean Allredge (Willis) of Tupelo; oneson, James Edgar Herrin (Jerra) of Rowlett, Texas; four grandchildren, Joel William Mahaffey, Jason Andrew Mahaffey, James Edward Herrin II and Christopher Ryan Herrin and two great-grandchildren.

Deborah Collier Holland
BATESVILLE–Deborah Collier Holland, 50, died Thursday Junuary 9, 2014, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. at  Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will held from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday.

Deborah born in Belzoni, on December 24, 1963, to the late Claiborne Leon Collier, Sr., and Barbara Bramlett Collier, was a certified licensed practical nurse with Cockrell Family Medical Center in Senatobia. She was a member of the former North Batesville Baptist Church.

Survivors include: daughter, Dakota Cheynne Holland of Batesville; mother, Barbara Bramlett Collier of Batesville; one sister, Donna Griffin  of Coldwater, and two brothers, Clay Collier and David Collier both of Sardis.

Rebecca “Becky” Jolley
BATESVILLE–Rebecca “Becky” Jolley, 62, died Sunday, January 12, at Northeast Regional Medical in Tupelo.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Community Church in Batesville with Father Sam Messina officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Survivors include: her husband, Gilmer Edward “Gil” Jolley Jr. of Batesville; four daughters, Amy Jenkins Wilson (Jason) and Emily Jenkins Brasher (John), Emma Jolley Foster all of Batesville and Lisa Jolley Daniels of Cheyenne, Wyoming; one brother, Edward Calvin “Bubba” Duke (Janie) of Cleveland; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
