Unique cultural treasure opens membership drive

A good start to the new year would be a membership in the Panola Playhouse. It’s time to join or renew!

The Playhouse has just announced its 2014 membership drive and the schedule planned for the season. Individual memberships are $40 each for seniors and students, $60 for adults. Each individual membership includes one ticket to each play — five are planned, starting with Legally Blond The Musical in March.

Membership also includes the privilege of helping to support Panola County’s unique cultural treasure that has thrived for over 50 years. With space and funds always limited, the Panola Playhouse turns what was once a tiny, old movie theater stage into a place of magic and imagination.

One has only to look at the productions in recent years to realize the high and ambitious standards for performance and entertainment the Playhouse repeatedly sets and meets — Cats, Wizard of Oz, the Little Shop of Horrors, the Little Mermaid Jr., the Diary of Anne Frank, White Christmas, Oliver and, of course, Les Miserables.

One member of the audience during last July’s production of Les Mis at the Playhouse captured the magic  shared by so many with her testimonial on the theater’s web site: “Once the show started it immediately sucked me in and it felt like I was in the middle of the streets of Paris!”
That sense of being transported does not happen by accident. It is the work of talented, dedicated local people who enjoy entertaining their audiences with the quality of their performances.

Membership in the Panola Playhouse allows anyone to be a part of this organization that has become such a community treasure. Benefactor packages from $300 to $1,500 offer an even higher level of support opportunity for patrons who want to give back to their community through this community theater that contributes much to the quality of life in Panola County.
