Mom organizes walk for research

It’s called “the worst disease you never heard of,” and Hannah Fowler wants to do her part to find a cure.
EB, Epidermolysis Bullosa, is a rare skin disease caused by the inability to produce one of several proteins that are building blocks for connective tissue.
Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Trussell Park Walking Trail, walkers will be signing up and donations of any amount will be accepted.
Fowler explains that both her sons, Jaxon and Jaydon, are affected, but luckily not the severe internal cases which may cause death.
“It has limited them in many daily activities that we take advantage of such as sports, tanning or just simply riding a bike,” Fowler stated.
“There is not a day that goes by without new blisters forming while we’re preventing old ones from infection,” She said.
Her boys have learned to take care of those blisters but wondering if they will ever get better.
“As a parent I feel the need to step out of our comfort zone and help Debra Organization raise money for research to one day find a cure,” Fowler said adding that any funds raised will not go just to research, but to help families with low income to purchase supplies and resources for wound care and pain management.
