Is John Kerry a good pick for Secretary of State?

Will meet tonight at BIS Auditorium on Atwell

By Rupert Howell

South Panola’s trustees will meet at their new time, 6 p.m., at Batesville Intermediate School Auditorium on Atwell Street tonight for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
Interim Superintendent Mike Foster said three individuals were asked to be put on the agenda concerning issues including dress codes and a school staff memo concerning religious references in school emails.

Foster said yesterday that three individuals had asked to speak to the board and he thought the small meeting room at the usual meeting place might be too small.

Trustees usually meet the third Tuesday of each month at the Parenting Center on College Street. Other than trustees, board meetings usually consists of principals or  their representative assistant principal from each of the district’s six schools, attorney, financial director, superintendent, a reporter and others on the agenda or an occasional concerned citizen or parent monitoring the meeting.

All school board meetings are open to the public but to speak a request must be made the week prior to be put on the meeting’s agenda.

Trustees occasionally close meetings to go into executive session to discuss specific personnel issues or matters of pending litigation.
