Wednesday, January 30
The Clydesdale horses will be at Check into Cash, Batesville, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The two horses, Casher and Dasher, were members of the 2010 World Championship team and appeared in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. For more information, call 563-8112.

Tuesday, February 12
Tummy Safe Certification Class and Exam for daycare workers will be offered at the Panola County Extension Service, 245-C Eureka Street, Batesville.  The class will begin at 9 a.m. and the cost to take the exam is $100.  The exam will begin at 2:30 p.m. Contact Pamela Redwine at (662) 675-2730 for information.

Wednesday, February 13
The Panola County Extension Service in Batesville is hosting an AARP Driver Safety Class from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m., at 394 Highway 51 South.  Cost of the class is $12 for AARP members or $14 for nonmembers. Upon completion of the course, certificates will be issued and can be used for reduction of cost on your auto insurance.  To register for the course call the Extension office at 662-563-6260.
Batesville Woman’s Club will meet at 2 p.m. at Batesville Presbyterian Church. Members should  bring cans of soup for the Panola Food Pantry.

Alcohol and Tobacco Awareness Workshop will be held at the South Panola Parent Center  10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Speakers will be  Pablo Williams Sr. of Jackson, Justin Pope of the South Panola School District and Madison Drake, Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Thursday, February 14
The Roast of Judge George C. Carlson Jr. will be hosted as a fundraiser by the Panola County Community Foundation at 6 p.m. at the Batesville National Guard Armory. Tickets, $55, are available at First Security Bank, BancorpSouth, The Panolian, Panola Partnership and Pride Hyundai. Call 563-5464 for information.

Friday, February 15
Pre-K registration at Batesville Elementary School will be held from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Things needed: certified birth certificate, immunization compliance form; social security card; two proofs of residency, proof of medical insurance and proof of income for 2012. Saturday, February 16
North Panola High School will present “The Ultimate Step Show” at 6 p.m. at the NPHS auditorium. Admission is $10. The evening will include door prizes, a live DJ and a performance by The Divine Nine. For information call Pamela Preston at 292-2531 or email preston@northpanolaschools.org

Junior  Auxiliary of Batesville will hold its 39th Annual Charity Ball fundraiser at  the Batesville National Guard Armory.  Call 662.934.7675 for  information.

March 6-7
ServSafe Food Certification Class will be taught beginning at 9 a.m. The certification exam will begin around 3 p.m. and should be completed by 5 p.m. on March 7.  The class will be held at the Panola County Extension Service.  Cost of the course is $135.  The deadline to register is February 7, 2013.   Call Pamela at 662-675-2730 for additional details and to register.  

March 14-16
Fitness in Action fit camp will be held at the South Panola High School track. Sessions are 9-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. The camp is free for adults and youngsters age 13 and over. Information will be offered on fitness, sports and nutrition, and zumba and hip-hop aerobics will be offered. Call 662-292-3088 for information. First Community Outreach Ministry Services is the sponsor.

Racing for Paws 5K race to benefit the Panola County Humane Society will begin at 8 a.m. in Downtown Batesville in conjunction with SpringFest. Runners registering before February get a discount on fees. Go to racesonline.com to register or email racing4paws@gmail.com for information.

Mondays
Gymnastics for kids is held in Batesville Intermediate School gym, for ages 3 and up. For more information call Kim Carver at 662-710-6121.
Friends of the Library meet at the Batesville library on the first Monday of each month at noon. Call 267-1680 for information.

Thursdays
Batesville Ladies Civitans will meet every first and third Thursday of the month at Western Sizzlin in Batesville at noon.

Monday - Friday
Panola County Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held at Batesville First United Methodist Church at noon daily. For more information call North Central AA Hotline at 662-234-8585.

Saturdays
Panola County Alcoholics Anonymous “Saturday Night Live” meetings will be held every Saturday at 6 p.m. at Sardis First United Methodist Church. For information call 662-234-8585.

Black Jack Community Center has karaoke 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. on the second Saturday of every month. Potluck and karaoke will be held on the fourth Saturday of every month.
