Emily Sigler is representing Panola County this week at the state Miss Hospitality pageant in Hattiesburg. She was crowned as Panola’s Miss Hospitality following a competition in March, sponsored by the Panola Partnership.

A student at the University of Mississippi, Sigler is studying business with plans to attend law school. At Ole Miss she’s a member of the Wesley Foundation, a Green Grove volunteer, and Oxford-University Methodist Church.

Sigler is a Chancellor’s Honor Roll scholar and was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta and Gamma Beta Phi honor societies.

A 2013 graduate of South Panola High School, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wes Sigler of Batesville. At SPHS she was Career Tech Student of the Month, and was a member of the 21 Plus Club, FBLA, Leadership Class, National Honor Society, and National Technical Honor Society.

This week contestants from 35 counties are vying for the state title. Competition involves judges’ interviews, an original Mississippi “commercial” performed by each contestant, a Mississippi speech and evening gown competition.

While in Hattiesburg the young women have performed community service, working with local charities.

The pageant finals are at 8 p.m. Saturday night at the historic Saenger Theater.
