ND slams Tunica 11-1

North Delta rode the pitching of Brandon Henson and Luke Noah to an 11-1 thumping of Tunica Academy in six innings Thursday at Green Wave Field.
Henson and Noah tossed three innings each for North Delta (6-4) and combined for six strikeouts while not issuing a walk. Henson scattered three hits and one run while Noah gave up  lone singles in the fifth and sixth innings.
While pitching and defense were doing their part, the North Delta offense battered Blue Devil pitching to the tune of seven hits and scored in every inning.
Luke Daniels and Jones Montgomery paced North Delta at the plate with two hits each and a pair of RBI’s. Daniels added a single in the third to go along with a two-run double in the sixth. Montgomery meanwhile garnered a single in the third and sixth inning. Hunter Houston, Lige Simmerman and Cole Devazier all collected singles for the Wave.
North Delta took a 1-0 lead in the first as Devazier walked, stole second and came home on a wild pitch before adding two runs in the following inning on three walks and a fielders choice off the bat of Henson.
Tunica avoided the shutout in the third by plating their lone run on a J.D.Wheeler single that scored Conner Cariker who led off the frame with a double.
The Green Wave extended their margin to 4-1 in the third on three hits then tacked on three more runs in the fourth for a 7-1 advantage.
Zack Adams registered an RBI groundout to bring home Noah in the sixth before North Delta ended the game with three runs in the sixth.
A pair of defensive gems also highlighted the Green Wave victory as Montgomery made a diving stop on a line drive off the bat of Garrett Young to end the third inning. Hunter Houston then threw a strike from his right field position to nail Wheeler at the plate that ended the fifth.

A four-run first inning propelled the Green Wave to the win in Junior Varsity action.
Clayton Harris provided a double and single while driving in a run for the Green Wave. Jack Ray drove in a pair of runs with a single in the first. Drew McCool added a double and scored in the first while Shawn Payne also singled and scored in the first.
Eli Robb, Drake Barton and Ian Cole all crossed the plate for North Delta. Barton tossed two innings on the mound while Caleb Capwell pitched one inning of relief in the third.
North Delta dropped a pair of games to Marshall Friday and 11-1 at the hands of Horn Lake Saturday morning. The Green Wave returns to the diamond Saturday at Heritage before starting district play Monday at Indianola.
