Sheriff’s Report: Resident awakes to find stranger in kitchen

A Ford Road resident awoke to banging on his back door early Monday, December 5 around 8 a.m.
“I grabbed my baseball bat and walked into the hallway where I saw someone standing in the kitchen,” stated the resident.
According to the report, the suspect was on the phone and exclaimed “He’s here” when he saw the resident.
The resident stated he asked the suspect what he was doing in his house and the suspect ran out of the house through the back door towards Heafner Road.
Deputy Steven McLarty was called to the scene and took pictures of the damaged door.
On December 8 Deputy John Still responded to a domestic disturbance where a resident stated her boyfriend began accusing her of seeing someone else.
According to the report, the resident stated an altercation started between them and the suspect assaulted her by punching her in the face and torso.
The resident stated she left the residence in her vehicle and the suspect began following her.
According to the report, the resident stated the suspect attempted to run her off of the road by ramming the driver’s side of her vehicle.
Further investigation revealed the damage to the resident’s vehicle matched the damage to the suspect’s vehicle.
Panola County residents reported 42 incidents to the Panola County Sheriff’s Department from December 1 to December 8 which required assistance from sheriff deputies.
December 1
• South Pocohontas Road, Sardis resident reported to Deputy McLarty that back in October his residence was broken into.
According to the report, a deputy responded but at the time nothing appeared to be missing.
The resident later discovered he was missing a comcast cable box was missing from a closet and some unknown pain pills. The resident stated he needed a report made.
December 2
• Deputy Bill Furniss responded to Hunter Chapel Road for a report of a burglary. Upon arrival Deputy Furniss spoke with the resident who stated he returned home and noticed his front door had been kicked or forced open.
According to the report, the resident stated two televisions, an Xbox 360 game console and $300 in cash was missing.
According to the report, all of the resident’s drawers had been opened and his bed mattresses had been moved. Deputy McLarty took pictures of the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
• Pope-Crowder Road resident reported to Deputy Still he and the suspect are involved in an ongoing disagreement.
According to the report, on December 2 the resident and his daughter were attempting to get some cows that had gotten out on Pope-Crowder Road.
The resident stated the suspect came through at this time and drove his vehicle in a menacing manner towards his daughter. According to the report, the suspect left the scene traveling west on Pope-Crowder Road.
December 3
• Deputy Still spoke to a Wells Street, Courtland resident who reported he ordered a Hewlett Packard Laptop which was delivered by FedEx.
According to the report, the package was mistakenly dropped off at his neighbor’s residence which FedEx confirmed. The resident stated he has been unable to get the laptop back.
• Deputy Furniss responded to a residence for a report of an attempted threat. The resident stated she has turned in several people involved with illegal narcotic sales.
According to the report, the resident has heard rumors of people trying to get revenge against her for telling. According to the report, the resident stated her husband came home and ran into the bedroom and grabbed several clothes and ran to his truck.
The resident stated she stopped him and asked him what he was doing to which he replied telling her she would be dead before the night was up and he did not want to be there when it happened.
The resident stated she would call her father-in-law to come help her get some things and get away for the night. After leaving Deputy Furniss was called back to the residence for a report of an altercation.
Upon arriving back at the residence Deputy Furniss spoke with both residents who stated there was nothing going on and everything was okay. According to the report, there was no evidence of an altercation.
December 4
• Cotton Plant Road resident reported receiving threatening phone calls from an unidentified female to Deputy Tripp Williams. The resident gave Deputy Williams the number which he called and spoke with the suspect who stated she and the resident have been into it.
According to the report, the suspect called and threatened to kill the resident. Deputy Williams advised the resident to file charges on the suspect.
December 5
• Sees Chapel Road resident reported to Deputy Emily Griffin his girlfriend began destroying items in his home.
According to the report, Deputy Griffin observed the suspect being highly agitated and emotional and also witnessed her shouting at the resident several times.
• Deputy George Renfroe spoke to a Sanders Road resident who stated the suspect pushed, choked and spit in her face.
According to the report, the resident stated the suspect has since then called and threatened to come to her house and kill her.
• MidValley Boulevard, Pope resident reported to Deputy Britton Crawford when he went to bed his Honda Trail Wagon was sitting under the carport and when he awoke and went outside he noticed it was missing.
According to the report, the resident stated he could tell that it had been pushed down the road a few houses.
The resident reported he has observed a grey Chevy style pick up around a mid 90’s model with loud pipes making multiple trips past his house and turning around at the dead end. The investigation is ongoing.
• Kelsie Massie Road, Como resident reported to Deputy Emily Griffin when he arrived back at his residence he discovered the back door leading into his kitchen open and a table that was usually pushed against the doorway was pushed back away from the entry way. According to the report, $2,915 worth of property was stolen.
• Deputy Still responded to Highway 315 for a report of stolen property. The resident stated he received an email stating his package had been delivered, but when he arrived home he was unable to locate the package.
According to the report, the resident called UPS and was able to speak to the driver who delivered the package.
The resident stated that the person the driver described matched his neighbor’s boyfriend, according to the report. The two mobile homes share the same driveway.
• Lovejoy Road, Courtland resident reported to Investigator Danny Beavers on November 29 or 30 he was putting his wallet between his mattress and noticed his .44 magnum automatic pistol missing.
According to the report, a friend of the resident stated he pulled the suspect out of the lake bottom and heard the suspect bragging about having the weapon.
Another friend of the resident stated the suspect either sold or traded the weapon to a known individual, according to the report. The friend stated she would try to get the gun back, but the weapon hasn’t been located.
• Al Johnson Road resident reported to Investigator Terry Smith some items were stolen from a building she used as a hair shop.
According to the report, the resident went to check on the building and noticed someone had broken the lock and taken $500 worth of property.
The resident stated she received a call from someone stating some family members stole the items and had a friend trying to sell them. The incident is under further investigation.
• Deputy Steven Moore responded to Floyd’s Island in reference to an individual being destructive around the house and using drugs. Upon arrival Deputy Moore spoke with the suspect’s mother who stated her daughter needed help and that she had been using methamphetamine.
Deputy Emily Griffin arrived on the scene and requested MedStat to respond to the scene. The suspect gave consent for the deputies to search her vehicle.
According to the report, the deputies recovered a blue container containing a white crystal like substance. MedStat arrived and the suspect agreed to get help for her addiction.
According to the report, the suspect’s mother stated she would go to the courthouse the next morning to start the paperwork for her daughter to get the help she needed. No charges are being pursued at this time.
• Avant Road, Crenshaw resident reported to Deputy Britton Crawford he woke up to find his mailbox torn from the ground and thrown into the woods as well as his trash can in the roadway.
• Holmes Road resident stated to Deputy George Renfroe someone had damaged her mailbox. According to the report, the resident stated a Panola County School Bus was parked at the end of the road.
Deputy Renfroe made contact with an individual at the bus shop who stated it was the bus that damaged the mailbox. According to the report, the individual stated he would be out to fix the damage.
December 6
• Deputy Maurice Market responded to Elburt Smith Road in reference to threatening phone calls. According to the report, a resident stated an individual threatened to do bodily harm to him and his family.
The resident stated the suspect has been sending naked pictures to his daughter’s phone, according to the report.
• Cross Creek, Sardis resident reported to Deputy Crawford her boyfriend took her key to the apartment as well as her cellphone and left the property.
• Investigator Beavers spoke to a State Park Road, Sardis resident who stated someone drove a vehicle on #2 Fairway causing major damage to the ground, according to the report. The investigation is ongoing.
• Otto Sanford Road, Courtland resident reported to Deputy Crawford  when she arrived home from shopping she noticed her Nissan Maxima and Chevy Impala had been scratched down the driver’s side, according to the report.
• Deputy Crawford responded to DeBowen Wilson Road where the resident reported everything was fine and that her family was just starting trouble. According to the report, the resident stated she wanted to file charges for harassment.
December 7
• Investigator Beavers spoke to a resident who reported her husband assaulted her by hitting her in the stomach and chest. According to the report, the incident occured due to the husband disrespecting her mother.
• Investigator Beavers spoke to a Coldwater resident who reported he was at the Tractor Supply in Batesville when someone stole an iPad out of his vehicle.
• Heafner Road resident reported to Deputy Williams he arrived home and noticed it had been broken into. According to the report, the key to the house was used to enter the home, therefore the resident believes the spare key was used.
The resident reported he was missing four guns. According to the report, a 20 gauge shotgun, 410 shotgun, .22 pistol and a Ruger 380.
• Deputy John Still spoke to a Hearn’s Circle resident who reported his trailer was broken into. According to the report a Samsung 42” flatscreen TV and some laundry detergent was taken from the home.
A satellite receiver box was located and was taken into evidence to be checked for fingerprints, according to the report.
• Lieutenant Chuck Tuckeer responded to Outlaw Hill in reference to a vehicle being vandalized.
According to the report, the owner of the vehicle stated he got up to leave and noticed someone had broken both mirrors on his car. The owner stated he did not know who could have done it.
• Deputy Darryl House investigated another incident where a car was vandalized at a residence on Woodruff Road.
According to the report, the resident stated someone tried to break into her vehicle and ended up putting a dent in the right side door on the bottom and scratched the inside of the right door.
• Deputy Still spoke to an individual who reported she was talking to the suspect about purchasing some property from him.
According to the report, the individual stated the suspect has been continuously calling her saying she owes him money.
The individual reported that the suspect threatened to file charges against her for tresspassing if she did not pay him. According to the report, no agreement was made with the suspect about the property.
• Old Panola Road resident stated she has an easement across property owned by the suspect. According to the report, both parties are in a disagreement over the easement.
According to the report, the suspect has continuously come onto the resident’s property to harrass the residents over the disagreement.
The resident reported the suspect also texted her on several occassions with threats.
• Eureka Road resident reported to Deputy Jeremy Hailey her son was causing a disturbance at her house.
According to the report, the suspect was compliant but unsteady on his feet from drinking half a pint of liquor.
When Deputy Hailey advised he was going to take the suspect and place him in custody, the suspect became loud and disorderly, according to the report.
December 8
• Deputy Harold Lewis spoke to a Rockhill Road resident who reported someone entered his yard and took a gas bottle along with two transmissions.
According to the report, the resident stated the property was last seen on Tuesday, November 6, 2016.

According to the report, no injuries occurred.
