After a series of postponements, the South Panola soccer teams held their home-opener Friday night as they hosted Columbus in a Region 2-6A contest.
While the Lady Tiger squad fell 3-0, the South Panola boys picked up a 3-1 victory over the Falcons.
South Panola (2-3; 1-0) wasted little time getting on the board as Logan Cossey took a pass from Abdeel Garza and scored a goal with less than a minute gone in the contest.
After Columbus tied the match at the 7:15 mark of the first half, John Railey gave the Tigers a lead they would not relinquish with a break away uncontested goal to give South Panola a 2-1 lead at intermission.
Jordan Tubbs tacked on the final goal at the 30 minute mark of the second half to give South Panola a 3-1 cushion.
The Tigers traveled to Senatobia Saturday were they dropped a pair of matches with the girls losing 6-0 while the boys fell 1-0 to the Warriors.
South Panola returns to district play tonight at Hernando before hosting Tupelo Friday with both matches beginning at 5 p.m.
