With the high school football season wrapping up this past weekend, post season honors began rolling in for  some South Panola Tigers.
Eriq Kitchen and O’Bryan Goodson were named to the MAC (Mississippi Association of Coaches) Class 6A 1st Team All-State defensive squad. Trammell Thomas was selected to play in the 11th Annual All American Offense-Defense Bowl, which will be held in Atlanta, December 30.
In his senior season, the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Kitchen collected 41 total tackles with 12 tackles-for-loss and four quarterback sacks for the 7-6 Tigers. For his efforts, Kitchen was selected to play in the Bernard Blackwell North-South All-Star game next weekend in Biloxi.
Goodson meanwhile garnered 46  tackles, 18 of which came from behind the line of scrimmage and three quarterback sacks. In two seasons, the University of Memphis commitment has racked up 39 tackles-for-loss and will play in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game tomorrow in Montgomery, Ala. at the Cramton Bowl.
Kickoff is set for noon Saturday with Raycom Media televising the game live over its Raycom affiliate stations in both states as well as in Memphis and Columbus (GA), according to a news release from WSFA Channel 12 in Montgomery. The AHSAA Radio Network will also broadcast the game live over its radio network Saturday.
Trammell, 5’8, 200-pound linebacker, had 21 total tackles with one tackle for loss and four pass deflections.
District Honors
Region 1-6A released its district choices for All District Wednesday.
Goodson was named Defensive MVP.
Named All-Division were: Kitchen, Jeterrion Draper, James Johnson, Patrick Shegog, D. J. Hall, Desmond Shegog and Jordan Strong.
Honorable Mentions include Trammell Thomas, Montray Blackburn, Thomas Turner, Robert Hentz and Jamichael Robinson.
Other 1-6A honors went to Hernando’s quarterback Robert Wilke, overall MVP; Columbus running back Kylin Hill, offensive MVP; Tupelo’s kicker, Josh Smith, special teams MVP; and coach of the year went to Tupelo’s Trent Hammond.
