Sardis trial ends with two life sentences

By Rupert Howell
Quendarius Robinson was convicted of two counts of murder and one count of felon in possession of a firearm last week in Sardis and sentenced to two life terms for the murders and a 10-year term for the firearm possession.
A jury found Robinson guilty in the November 2015 deaths of Emma Jackson, 68 and her granddaughter Cearea Jackson, 22.
The Jacksons were pronounced dead at their home on 318 Church Street, Como where two of the younger Jackson’s children were at the time of the murder. Law enforcement searched for Robinson from Friday night until Monday last year finally locating and arresting him on MLK in Batesville with the assistance of several law enforcement agencies.
Robinson had pleaded guilty earlier to a Feburary 27, 2014 shooting of Brandon Chapman in the Hoskins Road area of Batesville following a dice game.
During a 2014 preliminary hearing in Batesville Municipal Court Judge William McKenzie told Robinson, “Except by the grace of God, you could be looking at a murder charge.”
Robinson wound up pleading guilty in Circuit Court in 2015 to aggravated assault and was sentenced to three years of reporting probation and 10 years of non-reporting probation by Circuit Judge Gerald Chatham.
Panolian files reveal that Robinson was arrested and charged with assault on a school official in February 2009.
Judge Smith Murphey V presided at last week’s trial where Robinson was represented by attorney Azaki Shah. Assistant District Attorney Jay Hale prosecuted the case.
