BJH closes season with 32-0 shutout over Palmer

The Batesville eighth grade junior high football team closed out its season on a positive note by blanking Palmer Junior High 32-0 Tuesday night at Robert H. Dunlap Stadium.
Three different ball carriers found the end zone. Batesville (4-2) led 16-0 after one quarter of play before adding a score late in the second quarter to take a 24-0  lead at intermission.
Martez Clark scored on a 36-yard end around with 4:07 left in the first quarter to account for the Tigers’ initial score, followed by an Anterio Draper to Charles Fox two-point conversion pass for the 8-0 lead.
Batesville’s defense got into the act on the next series when Cameron Wright scooped up a fumble and raced 50 yards for the score. Draper then connected with Zacchaeus Nelson for the two-point conversion.
The Tigers increased their margin to 24-0 in the second as Draper lofted a perfectly placed pass to LaDerrick Hill for a 67-yard scoring strike. Draper then hooked up with Leslie Cosby for the two- point attempt.
Alteon Colley closed out the scoring with a two-yard score with 1:45 left in the third quarter with Fox running in the two-point conversion.
Batesville rushed for 173 yards on 13 carries as a team with Fox leading the way with 66 yards on four totes. Clark added two carries for 57 yards. Draper chipped in with one carry for 14 yards while Jaylon Horton garnered 34 yards on five carries.
