Busy weekend planned for Sardis, Como, Crenshaw

By John Howell
What may be the busiest Saturday of the year in Panola County comes this weekend with Como Day/Como By The Tracks, Sardis’ second weekend of its Sesquicentennial Celebration, Pope’s Cancer Walk, Crenshaw Unity Day and the Panola Playhouse’s second weekend of presentations of A Time to Kill.
Como
Como’s events, starting at 8 a.m. and continuing until midnight, include a 5K run, food, beverage and craft vendors on Main Street and Como Park, children’s activities, live music and the world premier of “Shake ‘Em On Down,” a documentary on the life and music of Mississippi Fred McDowell.

Sardis
Sardis follows up last Saturday’s spectacular fireworks show at Sardis Dam this Saturday with its Main Street Festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. preceded by a 5K run that starts at 8 a.m.
Vendors offering food, arts and crafts will line up along Main Street along with the city’s display of American flags; musicians will provide live music, all in celebration of the town’s first 150 years.
