Robert L. Bobo

SARDIS––Robert L. Bobo, 71, died Monday, August 15, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.
Services will be held Monday, August 22, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sardis. Visitation will be held Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor Cedric V. Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis.
Bobo, born June 20, 1945, in Sardis, to the late Ira Lee Bobo Sr. and Gladys Avant Bobo, was a retired truck driver at Beard Trucking Company and a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sardis.

Ruby B. Tubbs, age 76, passed away, Monday, August 15, 2016 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was the widow of Charles Tubbs of Courtland.
Services were held Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. Interment followed services at Shiloh Cemetery in Courtland.
Ruby was born November 2, 1939, to the late Joe Goode and Nancy Hamby Goode, in Panola County.
She and her husband Charles owned the neighborhood convenient store serving the Tocowa community for years. Ruby was a member of Tocowa Baptist Church.
In her later years she took pride in her work as a caregiver for the residences of Providence when they were most in need.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her children; Terry Tubbs (Jennifer) of Courtland; Charles Gordon Jr. of Houston, Texas; James Earl Hamby (Jennifer) of Southaven; Teresa Lage of Grovetown, Ga.; step-children; Michael Tubbs, Beverly Tubbs and Judy Austin, all of Batesville, three siblings, Sarah Tillman of Sardis, Ruth Jaudon of Batesville, Carlton Goode of Tillatoba; 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Joseph Byno

BATESVILLE––Joseph Byno, 80, died Monday, August 15, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services will be held Sunday, August 21, at 1 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church in Batesville. Pastor Melvin Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be held in New Hope Church Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Byno, born Oct. 12, 1935, in Batesville, to the late Joe Byno and Blannie Henderson Byno, was an awning framer at William Shady Company and a member of Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church.

Toni Diann Perry Lewis

JACKSON––Toni Diann Perry Lewis, 57, formerly of Batesville, died Monday, August 15, 2016, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Meadville.
Services will be held Saturday, August 20, at 11 a.m. at First Concord M.B. Church. Visitation will be held Friday noon to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor Charles E. McCaskill Jr. will officiate. Burial will be held in Concord Church Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Lewis, born Sept. 11, 1958, in Batesville, to Howard Perry and Annie Lee Turner Perry, was a general manager at McDonalds and a member of Greater Tree Church of Life in Jackson.

D.C. Perry

SARDIS––D.C. Perry, 71, died Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Sardis Community Nursing Home.
Services will be held Saturday, August 20, at 2 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Elder William Perry Robinson will officiate.
Perry, born Sept. 24, 1944,  in Panola, to the late Arthur Perry and Clara Edwards Perry, was a retired cab driver at Yellow Cab in Orlando, Fla. and a member of Greater Harvest Ministry in Sardis.

Jerry Curtis “Curt” Tanksley Jr.

Jerry Curtis “Curt” Tanksley, Jr., 45, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford,  after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service honoring the life of Tanksley will be held at 1 p.p. Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville.
