ND football concludes spring football workouts

By Brad Greer
The North Delta Green Wave football team concluded spring workouts with three scrimmages Thursday afternoon in Marion, Ark. against Northpoint Christian, Tunica Academy and Tipton- Rosemark, Tenn.

Although no official scores were recorded in any of the contests that consisted of two 15-minute halves, the Green Wave clearly gained the upper hand in all three scrimmages by converting numerous scoring drives on offense.

Starting on their opponents 40-yard line,  the Green Wave found the end zone on four of its six possessions against Northpoint Christain. Junior quarterback Will Kidder completed four-of-seven passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for two more in leading North Delta to 212 yards of total offense

The Waves found paydirt on its initial series as Kidder connected with Michael Prine on a 15-yard pass reception. The duo later  hooked up on a 40-yard scoring strike on the fifth possession. Kidder, who led the rushing game with 49 yards on six carries, later scored on runs of 13 and three yards. Baker West added a 25-yard touchdown run on the fourth possession.

Joseph Wright chipped in with two carries for 19 yards while Hunter Baker rushed one time for 22 yards. John Haga Lewis caught one pass for 11 yards.

North Delta’s ‘B’ team squad took to the field against Tunica and generated three scores in six offensive possessions as upcoming sophomore Cole Devazier ran for two touchdowns and threw for another. Wright rushed for 44 yards on two carries that included a 40-yard jaunt while Dennis King hauled in a 15-yard scoring reception from Devazier. Kaleb Joiner rushed three times for 17 yards, but had a 35-yard scoring run called back due to a penalty.

Austin Pointer led the defensive charge with two fumble recoveries while J. T. Stennett added an interception.

North Delta’s final game on the day was perhaps the most impressive as the Wave rolled up 305 yards and four scores on Tipton-Rosemark. Kidder threw a 70-yard touchdown bomb to Dennis King while adding an 18-yard scamper of his own.

Hunter Baker busted a 61-yard touchdown run then later connected with Bailey Ross on a 40-yard halfback pass for another score.
