ND varsity ladies hammer TIL and Strayhorn

Led by Linsey Hebert’s 23 points, the North Delta Lady Green Wave bounced back from their first district setback of the season by hammering Tunica 58-17 Friday in District 1-1A action.

Herbert scorched the nets with five three-pointers to go along with seven rebounds and five assists as North Delta (11-3; 2-1) took a 29-5 lead at halftime before coasting in the second half. Sara Waldrip recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds while Bradi Beard added 12 points, seven steals, eight tips, six rebounds and five assists.

Lauren Kimzey contributed with seven points and dished out six assists. Hannah Waldrip and Laci Dubravec rounded out the scoring with three and two points each.

In junior high girls play, North Delta remained undefeated at 13-0 with a 42-25 victory over the Blue Devils. Beard led all scorers with 17 points and 11 steals to go along with six assists and seven tips. Hannah Waldrip added nine points, six tips, four assists and three steals. Hanna Greenlee threw in eight points while Jordan Pointer and Hasting Neal added six and two points each.

The varsity Lady Green Wave squad also picked up a victory Thursday with a 50-20 win over Strayhorn. Kimzey led the Lady Wave with 17 points with Sara Waldrip following with 12 points. Beard followed with nine points, eight steals and four boards. Dubravec added six points, six steals and 12 tips.

Pointer added four points and Herbert scored a basket in the win.

North Delta, who entertained Magnolia Heights last night, will host a pair of games this weekend starting tonight against Kirk at 4 p.m with a pair of junior high contests. Saturday, the Green Wave takes on Clarksdale Lee beginning a 2 p.m with the seventh-grade followed by the junior high boys and girls games with the varsity girls and boys following.
